Call for Papers

October 4th to October 8th, 2021

** SHORT - VISION – INDUSTRIAL **

https://sbbd.org.br/2021

SBBD is the official event on databases of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC). It is the largest venue in Latin America. Along with technical sessions, the symposium includes invited talks, tutorials, and mini courses given by distinguished speakers from the national and international database research and industrial community.

The safety of all participants is our priority. After evaluating the current COVID-19 situation in Brazil, the organization decided that SBBD 2021 will be still an online event.

SBBD 2021 Short-Vision-Industrial-Applied Track solicits submissions of papers in the following categories:

SHORT PAPERS

Submissions in this category should present initial results or ongoing work in any of the SBBD topics of interest. Short papers submitted to SBBD must not have been simultaneously submitted to any other forum (conference or journal), nor should they have already been published elsewhere. Submitted papers will be reviewed based on originality, relevance, technical soundness, and clarity of presentation.

VISION PAPERS

Submissions in this category should describe visionary ideas to be presented at the conference. Vision papers should present new problems, new application domains, or new methodologies that are likely to stimulate significant new research. Vision papers are supposed to convince the audience that the idea at hand is valid and worth listening to, without the need to present completed research work and/or validated results. Thus, research results and experiment descriptions are not required in this type of submission. Submitted papers will be reviewed based on originality, relevance, technical soundness, and clarity of presentation.

INDUSTRIAL OR APPLIED PAPERS

Submissions in this category should present papers describing original contributions in developing and applying data management technologies towards the myriad of real-world problems. Real-world problems may be arisen from Industry, Society, Government, or Scientific Community. Industrial or applied papers submitted to SBBD must not have been simultaneously submitted to any other forum (conference or journal), nor should they have already been published elsewhere. Submitted papers will be reviewed based on innovation context and potential, technical soundness, and clarity of presentation.

Papers to the SHORT - VISION – INDUSTRIAL - APPLIED track can be written in Portuguese or English, pre-fix “Short Paper” or Vision Paper” or “Industrial-Applied Paper” to the paper title at submission time. The acceptance of a paper implies that at least one of its authors will register for the symposium to present it.

Short-Vision-Industrial-Applied papers should not exceed 6 pages, according to the SBC template. The templates for submission are available at [1]. Papers must be submitted by the deadline through JEMS website at: https://jems.sbc.org.br/home.cgi?c=3589. Questions regarding these submissions should be directed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
