The UFRJ Lebenslangschicksalsschatz team was the champion of the 2022-2023 SBC Marathon, whose final was held last Saturday, March 18, in Campo Grande, at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS).

It is the first time that a UFRJ team has won this competition. Formed by students Felipe Chen Wu (Applied Mathematics), Gabriel de Março (Bachelor in Computer Science) and Letícia Freire Carvalho de Sousa (Bachelor in Computer Science) and Professor Márcia Cerioli (PESC) who was a coach.

With this result, the group will participate in the world programming final of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), which will be held in November of this year, in Sharm el Sheik (Egypt). Four other Brazilian institutions also qualified.

This was the 27th edition of the programming marathon promoted by the Brazilian Computing Society (SBC). The competition is aimed at students of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the area of ​​Computing and related subjects. In this final, organized by Professor Anderson V. de Araújo (UFMG), 62 teams participated that were qualified in the first phase of the competition that brought together 556 teams from 170 universities across the country, in October 2022.

The competition, like the ICPC, has achieved its mission of promoting creativity, teamwork, the search for new software solutions and the ability to solve problems under pressure in students. This edition was sponsored by Stone, VTEX, Incognia, Huawei, JetBrains, Tecsinapse, Alura and Memind.
